I love to bake, I really do. For me, baking is its own reward, getting to create something that I can share with other people and make them happy through food.
But with the Bake It Happen campaign, my baking actually raises money – and no, I don’t have to sell the baked goods! It’s so easy to participate, I hope you’ll give it a try.
Here’s how it works. My friend Shari started Bake It Happen to raise money for breast cancer research, in this case the Pink Pumpkin Patch Foundation. Sheri lost her mother Judy to breast cancer, so this is a very personal endeavor for her.
When you go to the Bake It Happen website and sign up, you receive three of Judy’s awesome recipes (I chose to make Judy’s Black Bottom Cupcakes). Bake one, share a picture of it on social media or over email (details are on the site), and you’ll be entered to win some cool prizes.
But here’s the best part: Every time you share or email a photo of your baked goods using one of the methods on the site, a donation of $2 will be made to the Pink Pumpkin Patch Foundation!
You do have to sign up to get the recipes, but it doesn’t cost anything, and the recipes are great. My kids each had several of the cupcakes before I cut them off – they both declared it a “make again” recipe.
Remember, to get access to the recipes you have to sign up on the Bake It Happen site. Can’t wait to see those pictures!
