This is a silly little thing but I bet I’m not the only person who had trouble figuring out how to do this. I spend so much time on Facebook, and I want it to be arranged just how I like it. Keeping things organized means that I can keep up on my pages and groups in less time.
I knew how to add and remove items from my favorites list, but I just figured out how to rearrange the order. I have a lot of favorites on my list and the important ones were towards the bottom. No bueno!
I just spent way to long searching in the settings, trying to figure out how to move items around on my Favorites list. Turns out the answer was right in front of my face, on the home page – not in the settings.
Adding Items to the Favorites List
But first, how do you get items in to the favorites list?
Your Facebook Favorites are on the left side of the screen, almost at the top. If something you want to be in there is already in there, great. If not, hover over just about anything farther down in that left column – Groups, Apps, Events, etc. – and you’ll see a little gear box icon to the left. Click on it and if you see “Add to Favorites” you can go ahead and click it and add that item to your Favorites.
If you want to add something that you don’t see in that left column, hover over “Groups” or “Apps” or “Friends” or whatever it is you’re looking for, and you should see “More” appear – click on that. It will take you to another screen where you’ll see everything in that category and you can click on the gear box for each item and add it to (or remove it from) the Favorites list.

Want to remove something from the Favorites list? Click on the gear icon and click “Remove from Favorites.”
Rearranging the Favorites Order
Now the one that was tripping me up: Rearranging the list. Click on the gear box next to any of the items on your Favorites list. Click “Rearrange” (not sure how I never noticed that before).
You’ll see those little gray and white lines to the right of each item in your Favorites list – that means that item now be dragged and dropped up or down in the list.
When you’re done, you can just click over to another page, or click “Done” at the bottom of the Favorites list.
And now everything is just where I want it to be.
