Do you find yourself switching frequently from one device to another with a bluetooth keyboard, having to reconnect each time? Like, say, from an iPad to a phone and back? Or, do you share a Bluetooth keyboard with your family, with several people wanting to connect their devices? If so, this keyboard could streamline things for you.
The Bluetooth Multi-Device Keyboard k480 from Logitech has a dial that can instantly switch you between three different devices. And, the keyboard will remember if the device is an Android/Chrome/Windows device or an ios device, so that the keys on the keyboard will do what they’re supposed to do.
This keyboard was incredibly easy to set up and use with multiple devices (although I wasn’t able to connect it to my Windows Phone – no big surprise there).
I tried this out with my Surface and an iPod touch, but its permanent home will be on my desk, where I’ll be able to switch easily between my desktop computer and my Surface (I’ve never liked the keyboard that came with me desktop).
The keyboard comes with batteries already installed and ready to go. You just turn the Easy-Switch™ dial to number 1, hold down either the windows or ios connection button until the light flashes rapidly, and then connect like you would for any other Bluetooth device. When you want to add another one, just turn the dial to number 2 or 3 and connect.
To switch between them, you just turn to the number you want and that device will be connected. It really was that easy!
The keyboard also has a stand that can hold tablets and phones. It was about 1/4” too small to fit my Surface, but iPads and many other tablets would fit, as long as they’re less than 10” wide and 0.4” thick.
The shortcut and function keys automatically work differently depending on which operating system you’re working with. The F1-F4 keys can even access popular shortcuts on your smart phone. You can get more specifics on the k480 Immersion Guide on the Logitech website, which details everything this keyboard can do.
Earlier this week I had no trouble finding this keyboard for $49.99, but now at that price it’s backordered. You can still get it, you’ll just pay a little more. If you’d rather wait for the less expensive backordered version, you can search Amazon for “Logitech k480” and click the “Prime only” box and the $49.99 version will appear.
