Last Friday I stopped by Penn Station to check out Life Is Good, which was giving away their new coffee to commuters. I wasn’t there for the coffee – I get my caffeine in other ways. But I was happy to meet with reps from the company, which I had only known for its clothing.
Life Is Good is notable because the company gives 10% of all net profits – from its clothing and coffee sales and festivals – to help needy kids, through its Life Is Good Kids Foundation. The Life Is Good Playmakers partner with teachers, social workers, and other child-centered professionals to help kids in need. From their website:
These Playmakers use the power of play to build healing, life-changing relationships with the children in their care. To date nearly 5,000 trained Playmakers have cared for more than 310,900 children throughout the United States and Haiti.
I really love this hands-on approach, and applaud the company for giving back.
The new coffee line is part of a partnership with Smucker’s, and comes in the following flavors:
· Light Hearted, a light roast ground coffee
· Happy Medium, a medium roast ground coffee
· Dark & Daring, a dark roast ground coffee
· S’more to Love, a s’more flavored ground coffee
· Banana Bread Bliss, a banana bread flavored ground coffee
Life Is Good Coffee is UTZ Certified, which means that farmers learn better, sustainable farming methods, improve working conditions, and make more money.
You can order Life Is Good coffee online, or find it in stores like Target and Stop & Shop.
The clothing selection on their website is great, with some flattering cuts for women like me with curves and hips, and really cute kids clothes.
Life Is Good operates six company stores, and there are also many independently-owned Life Is Good “Genuine Neighborhood Shoppes,” many of them in airports (I’m a big airport shopper – if I’ve got time before my flight, and the massage place is booked, I’m in the stores).
Their clothes are also available in Dick’s Sporting Goods stores.
