When I first saw this article last week, it was being shared left and right on Facebook with comments like “Amazing!” and “I love this!” But I couldn’t get to the part that they loved. I couldn’t get past the part that talks about how a mom saved seats on a camp bus for her daughter and her friends, denying a new girl a seat in this special area.
I have a hard time believing that these moms exist. I mean, people assure me that they do, and I don’t think they’re lying. But something in my brain just refuses to believe that moms could be so hurtful to other children while doing such a disservice to their own.
But once we decided to talk about the article on our Parenting Bytes podcast, I had to read it. The entire topic is just so sad. No matter which side of popularity your daughter is on, she has to learn how to navigate these things for herself. Butt out.
We also talked about Kidz Bop, prompted by this article. The less I write about it the better, because I just really really hate it – the super-sanitized lyrics, the bland sound…and the way Fiona loved it. Ugh. There’s no accounting for taste, even in your own family.
Plus, we’ve got some really fun Bytes of the Week – nothing sad this time, I promise!
I’ve listed the rest of the links below.
As always, I’d really appreciate it if you’d subscribe and leave a review for us – you have no idea how much this helps us out!
