Last week I actually left my house for work. I changed out of sweatpants and even put on a little make-up. What was worth all that? Food. Italian food. I’m really happy to be partnering with RAGÚ® on this sponsored post so that I can tell you all about their delicious new line of sauces!
I’ve been a fan and customer of theirs forever, and now I’ve got some new flavors to add to my pantry: the new RAGÚ Homestyle pasta sauce comes in Traditional, Meat, Roasted Garlic, Four Cheese, and Mushroom flavors.
I went to the gorgeous rooftop bar at the Bowery Hotel, which was decked out for the occasion with jars of RAGÚ. Since I don’t drink, seeing a bar full of pasta sauce was perfect. It’s like they KNOW me. If they’d been serving it in shot glasses, I’d have slammed down a few as an appetizer.
We all had made-to-order pasta dishes using the Traditional flavor. I chose to have spaghetti with some fresh, sauteed veggies mixed into the sauce.
It was absolutely delicious!
In fact, I loved it so much that I made a similar dish at home a few days later, which turned out just as well, and was really easy to throw together. I sauteed some garlic and asparagus in olive oil until it was starting to soften but still had a little crunch, then I added the spinach and peas, then about half a jar of RAGÚ Homestyle pasta sauce in Traditional flavor. Once the sauce was hot, I stirred in the penne and cooked it for a few more minutes, until the pasta had warmed back up again.
This sauce is a different style than I’m used to from RAGÚ – the one I usually buy is very smooth. This one is thicker, made with chunks of vine-ripened tomatoes. The hearty flavor of the sauce really stood out, even after I added all those veggies.
The entire Homestyle line has no artificial colors or artificial flavors, and no high-fructose corn syrup. I’m really glad that I can open a jar of RAGÚ Homestyle pasta sauce and not feel like I’m cheating, or sacrificing quality or taste. I can’t wait to try it in some other recipes!
