So today is my fourth day on the Slim-Fast plan, Slim-Fast having provided me with two weeks’ worth of products. The first three days have been uneventful, but today is different because I’m going to an event that involves lunch. Now, I’ve been to three events this week that involved lots of yummy-looking food sitting in front of me, but this one is different because it involves a small group of people having lunch at the same time, not big tables of food set out with people milling around where nobody notices if you don’t eat.
I think it would make people uncomfortable if I sat there drinking a shake while everybody else was chowing down. But, I’m allowed to eat a 500 calorie meal each day. Usually it’s dinner, today it will be lunch. The problem is estimating 500 calories of food that I didn’t cook myself.
Plus, I like ending the day with a big (ish) meal. So, lunch events are going to be difficult. Oh well.
But, this event should be fun. More magazine is hosting a bunch of bloggers for…I’m not sure what. But they said it would be fun, and I’m curious to learn more about the magazine.
The rest of my time is consumed these days with the less exciting aspects of my job, and the highly stressful process of applying to middle schools for Jake. I swear, if the NYC Department of Education hired a blue ribbon panel to come in and purposely make the process more convoluted, they would be unsuccessful. It has already reach its zenith. Or maybe its nadir. Not sure which is more appropriate in this case.
