My daughter is heading to six weeks of sleep-away camp next week, and when she gets there she’ll find a surprise in her bag: The first three books on a really awesome tween/teen summer reading list that my friend Sandie wrote for Common Sense Media.
Sandie joined us on our latest episode of Parenting Bytes to talk about some of her favorite Young Adult books, and YA literature in general. It was a ton of fun to talk to her, and I ordered the books from Amazon right away!
Our second guest was the awesome J.J. Johnson, who talked about his hit Amazon series ANNEDROIDS, and why there aren’t more girl leads on kids’ TV shows. The interview is fantastic, and coincidentally the second season of ANNEDROIDS was released on Amazon last week!
Plus, as always, our Bytes of the Week – including one from me that had me sobbing in a cab.
Check out the links below for more info, and if you give the podcast a list and enjoy it, I would really appreciate a rating and review on iTunes!
This week hosts Rebecca Levey, Amy Oztan, and Andrea Smith are speaking with blogger, Senior Movie Reviewer for Common Sense Media, and creator of Teen Lit Rocks, Sandie Angulo Chen. Sandie has some fantastic book recommendations for summer reading for middle schoolers. Also, Rebecca and Andrea speak to J.J. Johnson of Sinking Ship Media, creator of the new Amazon show Annedroids. And our Bytes of the Week!
